This Cookies Policy forms part of our general Terms, Conditions and Privacy.

In common with most other websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to help us understand how people use Jazz Bass Transcriptions (JBT) so that we can keep improving our platform. We have created this Cookies Policy to provide you with clear and explicit information about the technologies that we use on JBT, and your choices when it comes to these technologies.

If you choose to use the Platform without blocking or disabling cookies or opting out of other technologies, you will indicate your consent to our use of these cookies and other technologies and to our use (in accordance with this policy and the rest of our Privacy Policy) of any personal information that we collect using these technologies. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. These text files can be read by these websites and help to identify you when you return to a website. Cookies can be “persistent” or “session” cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your computer when you have gone offline, while session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your web browser.

JBT Functional Cookies

We use our own cookies to recognize you when you visit our website. This means that you don’t have to log in each time you visit, and we can remember your preferences and settings.

Third party cookies

In addition to our own cookies, we work with various reputable companies to help us analyze how the Platform is used, and to optimize our website to deliver the best possible experience. The following companies help us achieve this through use of cookies:

Google Analytics and Google Website Optimizer

Google Analytics and Google Website Optimizer are services provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyze how users use our website, our mobile site and any JBT embedded players on third party sites. Google Web Optimizer uses the same cookies to measure how different users respond to different content. The information generated by these cookies (including your truncated IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your, and other users’, use of our website, mobile site and JBT players, compiling reports for us on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Please note that Google only receives your truncated IP address. This is sufficient for Google to identify (approximately) the country from which you are visiting our sites or accessing our players, but is not sufficient to identify you, or your computer or mobile device, individually.

Google cookies are those beginning “__ut”.

You can find more information here, including a link to Google’s privacy policy.

Facebook Pixel

The Facebook Pixel is a piece of code retrieved via Facebook’s enterprise tool Business Manager. The system must then be integrated into the pages of the businesses website. The code identifies anonymous visitors on the site and matches the data they can determine each with the data available on each user on Facebook. Facebook reveals no personal information about the individuals that they collect through the pixel. But Facebook allows the advertiser to identify the general interests, demographic status, etc. of their visitors.

Clear GIFs:

Clear GIFs are included in our email newsletters. You can unsubscribe from our newsletters at any time by following the link in the newsletter itself, or by changing your email preferences within your settings in your JBT account.

These clear GIFs tell us whether you opened the newsletter, clicked on any of the content or forwarded the newsletter to someone else. This provides us with useful information regarding the effectiveness of our email newsletters, which we can use to ensure that we are delivering information that is relevant to our users.

Advertising Cookies and Targeting Cookies

Targeting and advertising cookies are specifically designed to gather information from you on your device to display advertisements to you based on relevant topics that interest you. Advertisers will place these cookies on a website with the website operator’s permission. The information the cookies gather on you can be shared with other advertisers to measure the performance of their advertisements. Additionally, another purpose of targeting and advertising cookies is to build user profiles from visitors to the website to gather statistics on the performance of the advertisements that can carry across many websites. These cookies are almost always third-party, persistent cookies. This means that the cookies can follow the user as they visit other websites. Sometimes, the site with the advertising cookies does not display the advertisements but it can target users with advertisements elsewhere even after they’ve left the site. Examples of targeting and advertising cookies include social media cookies that are placed on sites to track users around the web to provide ads to them on social media platforms.

Google AdSense

Google AdSense is a program in which enterprises can display Google advertisements on Web sites and earn revenue from hits that generate traffic for the Google search engine s. Google AdSense represents businesses of all sizes worldwide in multiple languages. AdSense is a refinement and expansion of the concept behind banner -ad sharing arrangements that have been in use for years.

AdSense delivers targeted advertisements to participants' Web sites. Google search boxes can be placed on Web pages, generating text ads targeted to search results produced by visitors' search input. The Google algorithm s are designed to interpret context in such a way that irrelevant results are discarded and only those most likely to produce revenue are delivered.

Google reviews ads using language filters and professional linguists to prevent the display of inappropriate text or content and to ensure that all material conforms to professional editorial and ethical standards. Competitive advertisements can be blocked and default ads can be created or selected.
